Chip & Judy Anderson
Whether attributable to nature or nurture or some of each, it is clear that members of the Anderson family share a passion for several interests and beliefs.
Whether attributable to nature or nurture or some of each, it is clear that members of the Anderson family share a passion for several interests and beliefs. A recent legacy gift to Transitions LifeCare from Chip and Judy Anderson showcases these shared interests and beliefs.
The family has a multi-generational interest in healthcare beginning with Chip's grandfather, who was a doctor. Chip's dad, Glenn Anderson Sr., was very active as a Rex Hospital Trustee, though his career was spent in the investment business (Chip, and subsequently his son Kevin, continued that legacy). Chip's mom, Grace, was a 25-year volunteer at Rex and Judy followed in her footsteps, currently serving on the Rex Guild Board, alongside Kevin's wife, Perri, who continues the family healthcare tradition as a nurse.
Similarly, the family shares a strong belief in the importance of giving back, in money and time, to the community. According to Chip, "Helping to make the world a better place is a solemn responsibility."
An interest in healthcare, a belief in good works — it is logical, then, that when Chip and Judy began to consider their legacy, Transitions LifeCare came immediately to mind. Chip had served on the general board and as president of the foundation board during the capital campaign to raise funds for the Transitions LifeCare campus. "I was so impressed with all of the staff," Chip says, "leaving a substantive gift became part of our thought process. It provides an opportunity to make a last statement about what was important to you."
"When Judy needed hospice care, we immediately called Transitions LifeCare. She spent her final days at the hospice home. Our gratitude is expressed by consistent support over many years, and we hope many other families will experience the compassion at that very special time of life."
Kevin sums up the family's motivation for the gift: "It is so valuable, at such a stressful time, to be able to offload to experts the complex tasks of actual care; it allows the family to continue to function as a family rather than as caregivers."
